Rep. Hanley
Rep. Stephen P. Hanley was born and raised in Gardiner, Maine.
One of ten children, he attended Gardiner schools. He joined the
United States Air Force and later graduated from Central Maine
Vocational and Technical Institute and Maine Criminal Justice Academy
Reserve Training.
Hanley is serving his second term in the Maine State Legislature
and his second term on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee.
Hanley is a retired Journeyman Pipe fitter and police officer.
He is a former member of the Board of Directors for Riverview Federal
Credit Union and the Gardiner Area Boys & Girls Club. He is
also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, American
Legion, Eagles, Maine Emerald Police Society, Gardiner Sportsman
Club and the Sportsman Alliance of Maine.
He has been married to Sheila White Hanley for 40 years. They
have three grown children and one grandchild. Hanley enjoys spending
time with his family and being involved with his community. Other
interests include fishing, hunting, and kayaking.

Committees
Rep. Hanley serves on the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal
Justice and Public Safety.

The issue of greatest concern to me is the tax burden on Maine
residents, senior citizen issues, the rising cost of health care,
obstacles to our many small businesses, state spending and Maine’s
future.
